Mr. Steve Baker, Athletic Director
Mr. Steve Baker is the Athletic Director at Gaylord High School. He holds a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from Central Michigan University, and is working toward his master's degree in Education Administration, also from CMU. He has coached high school basketball at various levels, and from 1995 - 2000, he was a news anchor and reporter for 9 & 10 News in northern Michigan. Mr. Baker has served as Athletic Director for Memphis High School in Memphis, Michigan, Community Education Director for Reed City (Michigan) Community Schools, Athletic Director at Jonesville Community Schools, and he is currently in his second year at Athletic Director at GHS.
A graduate of Big Rapids High School in Big Rapids, Michigan, Mr. Baker is married to Amber, a teacher at South Maple Elementary in Gaylord. He has a one-year-old daughter, Lacy, and is an avid MSU fan. He is also a fan of the Detroit Tigers, and even, he admits, the Lions. Outside of his work day at GHS, Mr. Baker enjoys traveling and being involved in high school sports.
